Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity CVICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

- High-acuity CVICU in a short-term acute care Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, ventricular tachycardia, arrhythmias, and pre-heart transplant patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Specialized procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella, LVADs, pacemakers, central lines, vasoactive drips, dialysis, and Foley catheter care
- Charting is done in Epic; prior Epic experience is required
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required
- Experience with ventilator management, IABP, Impella, LVAD, PA catheters, and vasoactive drips required
- Prior Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to starting
- No neuro ICU experience will be accepted as a substitute for Cardiac/CVICU experience
- Scrub color required: Navy Blue
- Up to 7 days (no more than 40 hours) of RTO may be requested per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Parking is available via monthly passes at various lots ranging from approximately $63–$73/month; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
