Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a General Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring the ability to both scrub and circulate with a minimum of 2 years of OR experience.
Details
- General OR setting within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
- Must be able to scrub and circulate general OR cases
- Preferred case experience includes plastics, colorectal, urology, MIS, pancreatic/biliary, and surgical oncology; facility operates 5 robotic systems
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM
- On-call required: approximately 5–8 calls per month, including weekend call
- Holiday on-call coverage may be required
- Charting via Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or compact multi-state RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have an active SC license prior to start
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Demonstrated ability to both scrub and circulate general OR cases required
- A radiation badge is required for this role and will be provided by the agency
- SSN and driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- This is not a preferred position for first-time travelers
- Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is based on department needs
- Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Online orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date
- This facility is located in a hurricane-prone region; travelers should be aware that all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June–November), with peak activity in August and September
- Parking is available at a nearby garage for a one-time $20 registration fee for a hang tag; the hang tag is only valid for that specific garage
