Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Smyrna, TN, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active TN or Compact RN license.
Details
- ICU setting within a Level III Trauma hospital
- 16-bed ICU unit with a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Unit tech support available
- Advanced procedures performed include trach placement, bronchoscopy, and cardioversion
- Equipment includes GE monitors, Nova glucometers, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Draeger ventilators
- Charting via Meditech
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating in rotation with full-time staff and other travelers
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN state or Compact license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale certification required for ICU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Ventilator and sedation management skills required
- Medication titration experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Responsibilities include ventilator and sedation management, medication titration, and participation in advanced bedside procedures
- Patient experience standards include AIDET communication framework, completion of communication boards, and medication teaching
- Charcoal gray scrubs required
- Positive attitude, teamwork, and strong problem-solving skills are emphasized for this unit
