Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Intermediate Care position at a 225-bed specialty care hospital in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, requiring 2+ years of PCU experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- PCU/Intermediate Care unit (24-bed unit) in a 225-bed specialty care hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:3 for IMCU
- Complex patient population including post-open heart, heart failure, respiratory failure, trauma, post-stroke with lytics, post-craniotomy, surgical ICU, and septic shock cases
- Common equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell, Prisma Flex CRRT, Impella, IABP, EVDs, bolt monitoring, vents, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- EMR: Cerner
- Every other weekend required
- No scheduled on-call, though may be placed on-call if unit census drops
- Floating required on a rotation shared with other travel nurses
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
- Associate degree in Nursing (AND) required
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Candidates must reside 60+ miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate

- Facility specialties include Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine, Women's Health, and Pediatrics
- Facility holds Level II Trauma Center designation and supports programs including open heart surgery, cath lab, neuro surgery, and CRRT
- Preferred experience includes CVICU, Neuro ICU, organ donation, and pediatric DKA
- Orientation is held bi-weekly
- Scrub colors required: galaxy, royal, or navy blue; hoodies and open-toed shoes are not permitted
- Candidates may not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
- Candidates may not be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
