Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position in Chattanooga, TN, requiring cardiac critical care experience and the ability to manage post-open heart surgery patients.

Details

12-bed SICU within a main hospital building in Chattanooga, TN
Cardiac and surgical critical care patient population, including post-open heart surgery patients (minimum 1–2 days post-op)
Standard ICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, adjustable based on patient acuity
Unit staffing includes one daytime unit secretary; primary RN staffing model
Equipment includes standard critical care equipment plus Impella heart pump and Hemosphere advanced hemodynamic monitoring platform
Procedures performed on the unit include intubations, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring
Charting performed in Meditech
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required per month
Floating to PCU and medical-surgical units within the facility is required
13-week contract

Requirements

Active TN or Compact RN license required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)
CCRN certification is a plus
NIH Stroke Scale certification required for ICU RNs
Minimum of 2 years of recent cardiac critical care experience required
Hands-on experience with post-open heart surgery patient care required
Experience with Impella heart pump and CRRT is a plus
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
One professional reference required

Additional Information

Designated critical care staff respond to rapid response events and code blue calls
Navy scrubs are required
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
