Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Cardiac Step-down position in Chattanooga, TN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and ACLS certification for night shift coverage.
Details
- Located on the 3 West Cardiac Step-down unit (3rd floor, main building) of a hospital in Chattanooga, TN
- 30-bed cardiac step-down unit
- Patient ratio of 5–6:1
- Unit staffing includes unit clerks (days), 2–3 PCTs (day and night), nursing supervisors, and hospitalists
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn vitals monitors, Novameter glucose monitors, and Philips Telemetry and MP2s
- Documentation via Meditech (HCA version)
- Medications managed via WOW with med drawers and Pyxis ES dispensing system
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Equivalent of every other weekend required (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
- Floating may be required to other M/S areas including general M/S, Ortho, PCU, and M/S surgical with oncology; rotation-based unless skill mix dictates otherwise
Requirements
- Active TN or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac step-down or telemetry RN experience
- Proficiency with cardiac drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Experience with chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs
- Cardiac knowledge preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include telemetry application documentation, acknowledging and charting rhythm strips each shift, bedside and hourly rounding using the 5P's framework, and monitoring and responding to bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- Navy scrubs required for RNs; no artificial nails, gel nails, or gel nail polish permitted
- Unit is led by experienced charge nurses with long-tenured seniority on both day and night shifts
- Unit participates in Shared Governance at both the unit and facility level
