Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Acute Care night shift position in a rural, culturally rich community in Northwestern Arizona, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and active PALS, ACLS, and BLS certifications.
Details
- Work in the pediatric acute care unit of a JCAHO-accredited regional hospital serving a 4,400 square mile area, functioning as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations
- 73-bed hospital offering comprehensive inpatient/outpatient services including emergency, OB/GYN, orthopedics, and surgical procedures
- Pediatric patient population spanning all ages, with support extended to patients' families
- Night shift: 1800–0630, 7 shifts per pay period
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license from any U.S. state, commonwealth, or territory (AZ state license not required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NIHSS
- Complete Pediatric Trauma Care After Resuscitation (P-CAR) within 6 months of hire
- NIHSS must be completed within 6 months of hire if not already current
- Ability to work independently and apply professional judgment across varied patient conditions and treatments

- Provides nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge, adherence to physician's orders, standards of care, and hospital policies and procedures
- Facility is located in a remote, rural area of Northwestern Arizona on the Colorado Plateau — candidates should be prepared for a rural assignment
- The surrounding community is culturally diverse, serving Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribal populations alongside a mixed-background hospital workforce
- Facility-provided shared housing may be available at $600/month, based on availability — no family members or pets are permitted in housing units
- A housing application must be submitted promptly upon acceptance, at least 2 weeks prior to start date
- Fingerprinting is required prior to start and is completed during the compliance process via mail
- Orientation is conducted on a every-two-week cycle
- COVID and flu vaccine exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form
