Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent PCU experience and both MO and KS RN licenses in hand.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, 5-time Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Patient population includes pulmonary, wound care, urology, general cardiac, general neuro, and general renal diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Charting via Epic
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
- No on-call requirements
- Required skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, heparin and PCA protocols, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Preferred skills include: management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care, renal failure management, CVA care, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, and tracheostomy management
- Free on-site parking available
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active RN license — both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas licenses must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may be required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience in a hospital med/surg or telemetry setting required
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or academic teaching hospital setting preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- 2 professional references required — at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position — local candidates are not accepted
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit policy
- Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
- Onboarding includes 10–15 hours of compliance modules, typically completed prior to the start date
- Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO may be requested, with a limit of 1 RTO request for the contract
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
