Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with both circulating and scrubbing skills for a 10-week hospital-based assignment supporting a high-volume, multi-specialty operating room.
Details
- Main OR setting within a hospital, supporting 16 rooms with an average daily census of 35 patients
- Surgical specialties include General, Neuro, Spine, Ortho, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, and Colorectal
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Day shift, 4x10-hour schedule, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule, either in-house or on call
- Call requirements include 7–8 call shifts per 8-week schedule: one weekend call, 1–2 weekend shifts, and 2–3 weekday night call shifts; call windows are either 7 PM–7 AM (C1) or 7 AM–7 PM (C2)
- Floating is rare but may occur within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- EMR: Epic (experience required); Pyxis medication dispensing system in use
- Facility utilizes two Da Vinci XI robotic surgery systems
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of OR experience required
- Both circulating and scrubbing experience are required (hard requirement)
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Spring Break (April 4–12) is a blackout period during which RTO will not be approved
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two, and one holiday RTO request may be reviewed for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No scheduling change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
- All compliance requirements must be completed on time; late compliance may result in a two-week start date delay due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Candidates undergo a clinical pre-screen to assess fit prior to manager review
