Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg night shift travel contract in Uniontown, PA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and a PA or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit (2E) in a hospital setting with 29 all-private beds
• Patient population includes general med/surg, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemo cases
• Unit also houses COVID-positive patients in a designated 'dirty' hallway, separate from 'clean' patients — candidates must be comfortable with potential assignment to both hallways
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Remote telemetry monitoring is available for appropriate patients; telemetry strips are read by a monitor tech on a separate floor, not by floor nurses
• Heparin and comfort-measure drips (MSO4) may be administered; no cardiac drips
• BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen are used and managed by Respiratory Therapy
• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) required, plus 2 Fridays per schedule
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Floating is limited to other Med/Surg units only

Requirements

• Active PA RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• Any hits or disciplinary actions on a professional license must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Work history covering the past 7 years (or from graduation, whichever is less) with no gaps greater than 30 days required
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (if permanently employed within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that employer)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
• Orientation consists of 1 shift with a preceptor
• A Clinical Manager is present Monday–Saturday and serves as both charge nurse and nurse manager; a resource nurse with a full patient assignment covers nights
• Two CNAs are available on day shifts only; no CNA support on nights
• Self-scheduling and blocked schedules are permitted as long as unit needs are met
• Travelers are integrated into the permanent staff holiday rotation
• Navy blue scrubs required; any jacket worn must also be navy blue
