Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Direct Observation Unit (Telemetry) position in Urbana, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background.
Details
- Medical observation unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
- No on-call requirements
- Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Floating to similar units required
- Epic EMR used; experience required
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temp license accepted)
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
- Level 1 Trauma experience required (within the past 6 months to 1 year)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
- Proficiency in IV site assessment and IV insertion
- Strong critical thinking skills with ability to exercise independent judgment
- English fluency required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include completing patient admissions assessments, developing and modifying individualized care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and maintaining accurate documentation
- IV sites must be assessed every 4 hours; new IVs started per facility policy
- Documentation standards are monitored through quarterly chart audits
- Attendance at 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year is required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 total days for the duration of the 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year continuously at this health system; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any location within the system
