Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position in Rochester, NY, requiring a valid NY RN license and telemetry/dysrhythmia management skills.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Cardiac-focused patient population requiring telemetry monitoring
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Patient ratios on nights are typically 6–7:1, with potential stretch to 8–10:1 if staffing is impacted by call-outs
• PCTs are available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating within scope to similar units required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirement
• Epic EMR used; prior experience preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement required
• Competency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with rapid response teams, peripheral line care/management, and non-invasive airway management (nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks) required
• Familiarity with isolation precautions required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible, but is not guaranteed
• All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application; no more than 1 week of RTO will be approved per contract
