Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and both MO (or compact) and KS licenses in hand.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- Patient population includes post-surgical cases: bariatric, urology (TURP, TURBT with CBI, nephrectomy, ileal conduit, nephroureterectomy), hepatobiliary (Whipple, liver resection, gastric stimulator, complex biliary), colorectal (colon resection, ostomy creation/takedown, surgical oncology), and abdominal trauma
- Patients frequently present with necrotizing soft tissue infections requiring serial debridement with Wound Vac changes
- Primary post-operative pain management includes epidurals, PCA, Ketamine drip, and lidocaine infusions
- Patients commonly have multiple drains including Foley, JP, IR drain, NG tube, chest tube, G-tube, J-tube, and GJ-tube, as well as Wound Vacs
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required; both Kansas and Missouri licenses must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between facilities may require both
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown specialty experience required
- Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Required clinical skills: MS/Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, feeding tube care and management, CBI, peripheral line and PICC line care and management, IV insertion and maintenance, epidural analgesia, PCA, surgical drain management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/Wound Vac
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be from a supervisor or above, and the second may be from a charge RN; all references must be from within the past year and must have worked with the candidate within the past year
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Local candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not accepted
- Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract
- Online compliance modules are required as part of onboarding and are completed annually; total module time is approximately 10–15 hours
