Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Boise, ID, requiring a BSN, 2+ years of L&D experience, and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit (LDRP model) with 16 L&D beds, 13 antepartum beds, 8 triage beds, 3 OR suites for C-sections, and a 32-bed Mother Baby Care Unit on a separate floor
- High-volume unit averaging 320–400 deliveries per month
- Common patient diagnoses include preeclampsia, placenta previa, twins, and gestational diabetes
- RNs follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios
- RNs are required to perform LDR care and circulate the OR for C-sections
- RNs titrate Pitocin and insulin drips
- Centricity Perinatal (GE) used as the EFM system; Epic used for charting
- Epic experience required
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a); weekends scheduled based on unit needs
- Travelers are first to float, including to antepartum (13-bed high-risk unit) and sister hospitals in Meridian and Nampa (all within 20 minutes)
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- Active ID or Compact RN license required; must be active and in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- BSN required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- All certifications must be active; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Experience with LDR care and circulating the OR for C-sections required
- Experience titrating Pitocin and insulin drips required
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of one shift each in L&D, antepartum, and the L&D OR
- Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) are present on every shift
- OB laborist, neonatologist, and anesthesia (CRNA) are all in-house 24/7
- Charge nurse is present each shift and does not take a patient assignment unless absolutely necessary
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Scheduling is based on unit needs; no block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
- Holiday scheduling is infrequent for travelers but may occasionally be required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
- Former permanent employees must have been away for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
