Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position in Washington State, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric critical care experience and active WA or compact RN license.
Details
- 13-week travel contract in a hospital PICU setting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Staffing ratio of 1:2 with an average daily census of 2–4 patients across 6 beds
- Pediatric critical care patient population including ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, and pre/post-op cases
- Specialized procedures include breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency vents, oscillators, procedural sedation, RSI drugs, trach care, and vent management
- Additional skills utilized include blood/blood products administration, CVP monitoring, 12-lead EKG acquisition, epidural/PCA/syringe pumps, PICC/central lines, Port-A-Cath access/care, wound vac, traction/halo/pin care, and triple lumen catheter management
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required to NICU or other units within the traveler's skill set
- Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PICU or pediatric critical care nursing experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Active professional license required at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation is provided upon start of assignment
- Scrubs of any color are accepted
- Scheduling is self-directed by permanent staff first; travelers fill remaining unit needs
- Former permanent employees of the facility must have been separated for at least 3 months and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible after a 3-month separation
- RTO requests must be disclosed upfront; minimal RTO is preferred and any RTO not noted at the time of submission is unlikely to be approved
