Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital in the North Chicago area, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a 397-bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Level III Perinatal Center, Magnet-designated, comprehensive stroke center, and academic teaching hospital
- Unit features 3 Cath Lab rooms performing both Cath and EP procedures
- Cath Lab cases include diagnostic/interventional, LHC/RHC, NSTEMI and STEMI, Impella, IABPs, Rotoblator, CTOs/staged PCI, shockwave, temp pacers, peripheral (legs) diagnostic/intervention, and loop recorders
- EP cases include Micra, pacemakers, AICDs, lead extractions/revisions, and generator changes
- Average daily caseload is 5–15 cases per day
- Shift is 10 hours, days, 0700–1730
- EMR is Epic
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Philips hemodynamics, Merge PACS, and Philips C-arm
- On-call is required: 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Saturday and/or Sunday) and 4–5 overnight weekday call shifts per 4-week schedule
- 30-minute response time required for call-back; no sleep room available
- Holiday on-call coverage may be required
- No floating required
- Local candidates are accepted
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required
- Proficiency in moderate sedation with Versed/Fentanyl and critical drip management required
- Experience monitoring and circulating Cath Lab cases required
- Experience with the full range of Cath and EP case types listed is preferred
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include moderate sedation administration, critical drip management, and monitoring/circulating Cath and EP cases
- Department support includes a Charge RN, receptionist, hospitalist/physician available after hours, respiratory therapy, and a manager/supervisor
- Orientation consists of a facility-level NEO session followed by 1 day of unit-specific orientation
- Scheduling is self-scheduled in 6-week increments with manager final approval; RTO of up to 7 days may be requested
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
