Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Orthopedic/Med-Surg inpatient unit in Urbana, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background.
Details
- Inpatient orthopedic and medical-surgical unit at an acute care hospital
- Cares for orthopedic and general medical-surgical patient populations
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week), 12-hour shifts
- No on-call requirements
- 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
- Every-other holiday coverage required
- Floating to similar units required
- Epic EMR used; experience required
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing required (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- ASN required; BSN preferred
- Experience with orthopedic nursing, wound care, traction setup, and surgical traction device management
Additional Information
- Assesses orthopedic and med-surg patients each shift and develops individualized plans of care
- Educates patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
- Sets up orthopedic traction and manipulates surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
- Manages wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
- Coordinates with physician and surgeon partners on patient care
- Delegates and monitors interventions performed by healthcare team (HCT) staff
- May be required to complete annual education for DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program compliance
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is not to exceed 7 days for the duration of the 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any location within the health system
