Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position in California, requiring a minimum of 3 years of RN experience, ventilator experience, and telemetry proficiency including cardiac strip interpretation.
Details
- Hospital-based MS/Tele Float Pool unit with 36 beds and an average census of 36 patients
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics, including general med/surg, telemetry, and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call requirement
- Floating may be required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active California RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
- Ventilator experience is required — hard stop
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
- Experience with telemetry and med/surg competencies required, including orthopedics and simple gynecological procedures (hysterectomies, myomectomies)
- Total joint orthopedic experience required
- Required cardiac monitoring skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
- Required cardiovascular skills: post cardiac angiogram care, post MI care, and pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
- Required IV therapy skills: blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, and IV insertion
- Required medication skills: heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), and vasoactive drip management (no titration)
- Required respiratory skills: chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No time off (RTO) permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront and in full for the duration of the contract — changes are only permitted to cancel previously requested time, not to add new dates
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
