Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Colorado, requiring at least 2 years of high-risk L&D experience and the ability to circulate C-sections in the OR.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a Level III NICU on a combined L&D, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby unit
- Unit includes 22 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds
- Averages 8–12 births per day and approximately 2,900 births per year
- Patient population includes labor, C-sections, pre-eclampsia, infant of diabetic mother (IDM), and a variety of antepartum complications
- RNs are required to read their own fetal monitor strips using the GE Corometrics EFM system
- RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drips include oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
- Surgical techs are present on the unit; charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
- OB and APPs are in-house 24/7; anesthesia is in-house 24/7; neonatologist is not in-house 24/7
- Charting is done in Epic; experience preferred
- 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend (EOW)
- 18 hours of on-call required per 6-week period, self-scheduled in 6-hour increments
- First to float to the postpartum unit when needed
- Holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current AHA-issued certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of high-risk L&D experience required
- Must be able to circulate C-sections in the OR
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
Additional Information
- Must be available and in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit
- Self-scheduling is used, but travelers are expected to fill in gaps within reason
- Hospital-provided scrubs are required
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are expected to float within the zone they are hired into and are responsible for securing housing that allows them to meet this requirement
