Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel contract, working 4x12-hour day shifts with telemetry experience and Epic proficiency preferred.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting with 34 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Standard patient ratio of 1:6, with the possibility of flexing to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
• Every other weekend is required
• PRN on-call for low census situations
• Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required
• Charting performed in Epic
• Patient care involves Med/Surg, MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, insulin management, and rapid response

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact RN license must be in hand prior to start; candidates with a pending SC license may still be considered
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit, including telemetry monitoring, insulin administration, and participation in rapid response situations
• All AHA certifications must be from the American Heart Association
• Completion of online modules is required prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Royal blue scrubs are required
• Free parking is available on-site
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak hurricane activity occurs in August and September
