Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a night shift travel contract at a hospital-based Main OR, performing a high-volume mix of surgical specialties using advanced robotic and minimally invasive technology.

Details

  • Hospital-based Main OR environment with 7 rooms and an average daily census of 20–25 cases
  • Primarily outpatient surgical caseload (~95%), with patients going home same day
  • Adult to geriatric patient population
  • Surgical specialties include: total joints (knees, shoulders, hips), spine (lumbar fusions, PLIFs, ALIFs, kyphos, stimulators, decompressions, ACDFs), sports medicine (ACLs, tendons), podiatry, general/laparoscopic (cholecystectomies, hernias, thyroids, mastectomies with breast reconstruction, lymph node biopsies, colorectal), robotics (urology, general, GYN, colorectal with DaVinci XI), vascular (carotids, fistulas, fem-pops, EVARs), minimal GYN, and cystoscopy/urology (stents, TURPs, prostate biopsies, penile implants, perc nephrectomies)
  • Neurosurgery, L&D, endo, cardiothoracic (including hearts, Whipples, liver ablations), and GYN/oncology are NOT performed in this Main OR
  • Specialized equipment includes: OSI Spine and Fx table, Allen Spine table, Hana table, Arthrex Scope Tower, Misonix Box Scalpel, Aquamantys, Stryker PI drill, Olympus Laparoscopic Video Equipment, Trident, Savi Scout, Neoprobe, NIMS monitor, DaVinci XI, Covidien Bovie with LigaSure, Harmonic Scalpel, Conmed Smoke Evac, Neptune with Smoke Evac, Zeiss Microscope, Leg Splitters, and Trumpf table for robotic suite
  • EMR: Epic (also uses Pyxis and SBAR)
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating is rare
  • On-call is very minimal; in-house teams cover Sat/Sun 7 AM–7 PM and Mon–Sun nights 7 PM–7 AM

Requirements

  • Active GA RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of OR RN experience required
  • Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage is required: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2, and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for approval
  • Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as 1)
  • No scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted shift is firm
  • Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are accepted for this position
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time
