Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) night shift position at a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent PCU experience and both Missouri and Kansas RN licenses in hand.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, 5-time Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes medical diagnoses related to pulmonary, wounds, urology, general cardiac, general neuro, and general renal conditions
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
  • Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15); 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, which may fall on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
  • Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting via Epic
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking on-site

Requirements

  • Active MO (Missouri) RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; both Kansas and Missouri licenses must be in hand prior to start due to floating requirements
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or MS/Telemetry experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Required skills include: interpretation and monitoring of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care and management, peripheral IV insertion, heparin and PCA protocols, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), non-invasive airway management, oxygen face mask use, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
  • Preferred skills include: management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care, renal failure management, CVA care, ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience, surgical drain management, and tracheostomy management
  • Pending licenses are not accepted; all licenses must be in hand at time of consideration
  • 2 professional references required: at least one must be from a supervisor level or above, and the second may be from a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
  • SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
  • Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage may be required as needed
  • Candidates must complete 10–15 hours of compliance modules prior to the start of the assignment
  • Block scheduling is not available for this position
