Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical unit position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring EKG interpretation skills and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift position, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Short-term acute care hospital setting — Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center, and teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Medical/Surgical unit serving a high-turnover patient population including acute care patients with infection, renal, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, orthopedic, bariatric, pre-transplant, observation, psychiatric, long-stay, and COVID diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- High patient turnover due to placement needs during census peaks — nurses may care for a large volume of patients per shift
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Specialized equipment includes Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BIPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CPI certification preferred
- 1–2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required — must pass a Relias EKG exam
- Experience with tracheostomy patients required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Provides primary care at times, including care for tracheostomy patients
- Nurses receive additional required training to support care for a wide variety of patient conditions
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months before a 3-month break in service is required
- Candidates residing outside of Illinois may submit with a pending IL license, provided it is noted at time of consideration
- Parking is available at nearby lots and garages for a monthly fee; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
