Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro experience for a night shift travel assignment in Chesapeake, VA, requiring Epic proficiency and VA or Compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the ICU of an acute care hospital in the Chesapeake, VA area — minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk
- Patient population includes neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3
- Night shift schedule (19:00–07:30), available as either 3x12 or 4x12
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required within the contract period
- Floating required to the Stepdown Unit, and may also float to ED/MedSurg to cover ICU patients being held in those areas
- Epic EMR — proficiency required, no exceptions
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
- Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Strong neuro experience required, specifically post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke
- Proficiency with ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia and emergency management
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — a valid driver's license must be provided for address verification
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Clean license and background history required — any prior hits will disqualify a candidate from consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a complex, high-acuity patient population including neurosurgical and post-stroke, sepsis, respiratory and renal failure, trauma, and cardiac patients
- Strong neuro ICU skills are essential, including management of EVDs and post-neurosurgical patients
- Candidate preference for 3x12 vs. 4x12 schedule should be indicated at time of application
- 13-week contract assignment located in the Chesapeake/Coastal Virginia region
