Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring at least 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience, with night shifts in an Oklahoma City hospital setting.
Details
- Hospital-based inpatient Post Surgical Unit (Med/Surg)
- Cares for pre- and post-operative patients, including those with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGTs, and DHTs
- Some step-down/PCU level patients are included in the patient population
- Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down patients
- ENT and/or transplant experience is preferred
- Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active OK RN license or current multistate eNLC compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required
- Step-down/PCU experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- OR (operating room) experience will not be accepted in place of required med/surg surgical floor experience
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of post-surgical patients, monitoring physiological data and intervening as necessary
- Administers medications, manages IV infusions and blood products, and assists physicians with examinations and minor procedures
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
- Educates patients and families on care plans and hospital procedures, and coordinates referrals to appropriate personnel
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new contract (prior contracts may only be extended once, for a maximum of 26 total weeks)
- Compliance requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must be completed promptly — the facility does not negotiate start dates for non-compliant travelers
