Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position in Nashville, TN, requiring 2 years of experience and a TN or Compact RN license for night shift coverage.
Details
- Located in Nashville, TN at a Comprehensive Stroke and ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center that is also a Certified Chest Pain Center
- Unit is a 20-bed PCU (3rd Floor Neuro Med/Surg, Cost Center 612)
- Patient ratio is 6:1
- Tech support available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7a–7p
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCD's, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
- EMR system is Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
- Contract travelers are first to float; rotation applies when multiple contract staff are scheduled
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TN or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Proficiency in IV insertion, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a high-acuity environment
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no exceptions (no Canadian SSNs accepted)
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
- Responsibilities include bedside shift report, attentive and compassionate patient/family care, and actively including patients and families in the plan of care
- Navy scrub tops and bottoms are required
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
