Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of adult critical care experience for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Charleston, SC.
Details
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required; holidays required
- 13-week contract
- Located within a nearly 200-bed tower that includes 2 ICUs, 2 step-down floors, 4 general acute care floors, and a 21-bed emergency department
- Cardiovascular ICU (21 beds) serving post-op cardiac, thoracic, and complex vascular surgery patients, including heart and lung transplant, durable LVAD, ECMO, IABP, and Impella
- Medical-Surgical ICU (18 beds) serving mixed medical and abdominal surgical patients including ARDS, septic shock, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, GI hemorrhage, pulmonary hypertension, and perforated viscus
- Floating may occur to the main hospital adult population only, using the same policies, equipment, and charting requirements; no floating to sister facilities
- Charting performed in Epic
- No on-call required
- Parking is available; nights and weekends require a one-time $20 parking pass payment
Requirements
- NBRC RRT certification required; CRT will be considered
- Active South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP) license required — license must be in hand at time of start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of adult critical care experience required
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- License required if applicable
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital setting with 865 total staffed beds
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Previous permanent or PRN staff of this health system must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on manager and unit needs
- Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Travelers should be aware that this assignment spans hurricane season (June–November); all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period, with peak activity in August and September
