Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of adult critical care experience for a night shift travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Charleston, SC.

Details

  • Work in a large academic teaching hospital with nearly 200 beds, including a Cardiovascular ICU (21 beds) and a Medical-Surgical ICU (18 beds)
  • Cardiovascular ICU patients include post-op cardiac, thoracic, and complex vascular surgery, heart and lung transplant, durable LVAD, temporary mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, IABP, Impella, complex cardiology, post cardiac arrest, acute MI, and decompensated heart failure
  • Medical-Surgical ICU patients include mixed medical and abdominal surgical cases such as ARDS, septic shock, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, GI hemorrhage, pulmonary hypertension, and perforated viscus
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • No on-call required
  • Floating may occur to the main hospital adult population, which uses the same policies, equipment, and charting; no floating to sister facilities
  • Charting via Epic
  • Caribbean Blue scrubs required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • NBRC RRT certification required; CRT will also be considered
  • SC Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) license must be in hand at time of start
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of adult critical care experience required
  • Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • License required if applicable

Additional Information

  • This is a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with 865 staffed beds
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on manager and unit needs
  • Online modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
  • Parking is free on nights and weekends; a one-time $20 fee applies for a parking pass
