Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at a Level 2 Trauma, teaching hospital in Georgia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Combined Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiac ICU unit with 26 beds
  • ICU patient population includes drug overdose, MI, subarachnoid hemorrhage, MVC, sepsis, ARF, AAA, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, and more
  • Patients may be on Life Link, CRRT, or intra-aortic balloon pump
  • Floating required to all Med/Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, with 24 standard hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • On-call may be requested when census is low, though this is rare
  • Holiday coverage required for 70% of holidays
  • EMR: Epic
  • Alaris pumps, cardiac monitors, BiPAP, ventilators, Precision BBG monitors, and specialty beds are used in the department

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required (CPI may be provided by facility if not already held)
  • TNCC and CCRN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Strong ICU skills required: arrhythmia monitoring, sedation, paralytics, titratable drips, CVP monitoring, caring for post-craniotomy patients, and TPA administration
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Level 2 Trauma designated, 361-bed academic teaching hospital with a residency program, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
  • Facility requires 2 nurses to place a foley catheter
  • Departmental support includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, educators, safety sitters, Virtual Patient Observers (VPO), and Virtual RN
  • Orientation consists of one week of facility-wide onboarding (Mon–Fri, 0800–1630) followed by 2–3 days of unit-specific orientation
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Department culture emphasizes teamwork, speaking up for help, answering call lights and rover phones promptly, and prioritizing telemetry response
  • First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
  • Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies for this GA facility
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible
