Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries), and ICP monitoring
• Specialized procedures include vasoactive medication management, central line and arterial line management, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
• Specialized equipment includes EVDs and bolts
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Short-term acute care hospital setting — Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds

Requirements

• Active MO RN license required (compact license also accepted); license must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with 2 years specifically in a neuro setting required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certifications/education: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education
• Must pass the Relias EKG exam — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs required
• 10 hours of stroke education must be completed in total — NIHSS certification (taken within the year) can satisfy up to 3 hours, and a new or renewal ACLS (taken within the year) may also contribute hours; this education is completed during orientation
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Monthly parking passes are available at various locations; costs and availability vary by lot
