Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU/PCU Float RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and comfort floating across all ICU and PCU units.
Details
- Position is an ICU/PCU Float role — candidates must be comfortable working across all ICU and PCU units
- Large, 703-bed acute care Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school
- Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric), certified Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
- ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
- Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM; 4x12 schedule available by request
- Epic EMR experience required
- Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning travelers may float 2–3 times per shift
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred; ICU experience required
- Experience at a large Level I or Level II facility required
- Epic EMR experience required
- IV therapy skills: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance
- Respiratory support skills: BiPAP and CPAP management, ventilated patient care
- Medication administration skills: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Wound care experience: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
- Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Endocrine/metabolic skills: IV insulin protocol adherence
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted; a radius rule applies to determine eligibility for the travel pay rate
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of submission
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
