Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications, with Epic EMR experience and comfort floating to pediatric PACU.
Details
- Hospital-based PACU department spanning two floors with a total of 34 ORs, supporting all major surgical and procedural services
- Patient population includes both adult and pediatric patients across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
- First floor includes 6 ORs, 2 cysto suites, a shared Pediatric GI/Lithotripsy room, and preps/recovers cases for CT/MRI — with a high volume of pediatric patients
- Second floor includes 28 ORs servicing Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Pulmonary Lab cases
- Special procedures include regional anesthesia and ECT
- Equipment used includes Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and AccuVein
- Epic EMR experience required
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (8:00–20:30)
- 2–3 weekends required per contract
- Floating to pediatric PACU required as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license — Louisiana or Compact license required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Prior PACU or Pre/Post Op nursing experience strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provide pre-op and Phase I and Phase II post-op care to adult and pediatric patients across a high-volume surgical environment
- Must be comfortable caring for patients of all ages, including a high volume of pediatric cases on the first floor
- In the event of a declared emergency, nurses may be assigned to an Emergency Team and expected to remain on-site until the event passes or to serve on a relief team — candidates should be comfortable with this expectation before applying
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- Local candidates are not accepted — must live 65+ miles from the facility
