Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience and at least one prior travel contract for a 17-week acute care assignment on a weekend day shift.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated Respiratory Therapy unit
- Adult patient population with exposure to COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and oncology cases
- ICU therapists manage up to 4 airways per shift (vents, heated aerosol trach, etc.); floor therapists average 13–15 patients per shift (~550 minutes of treatments)
- Servo vents (U and I models) used throughout the unit
- Charting via MEDITECH; experience preferred
- Weekend team schedule: Friday–Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM (12-hour day shifts)
- Holidays rotated in with permanent staff; every other holiday can be expected
- No call or on-call requirements
- No floating required
Requirements
- RRT credential required
- Valid Georgia (GA) state RT license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience in a 300+ bed facility
- Critical care (adult ICU) experience required, including ventilator management and intubation
- Completion of at least one prior travel contract required
- Must be comfortable with intubating patients and managing high-acuity, high-volume workloads
- NRP required if assigned to NICU
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Driver's License required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include nebulizer treatments, airway management, Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, bronchoscopy, and arterial line placement in the ICU
- Therapists are expected to manage blood gases, make vent management recommendations, and recognize and report critical values
- A hospitalist or intensivist (MD or NP) is in house 24/7; however, the RT serves as first responder for intubations during code situations
- Orientation consists of one week of hospital and charting orientation followed by a week of graduated treatment load; ICU assignments include an additional week of orientation
- The unit runs approximately 11 therapists on days and 10–11 on nights depending on unit needs
- Charge RT and Clinical Coordinator roles are present on the unit
- Scrub color: ceil blue tops and ceil blue jackets only
- Pharmacy is available 24/7
- Any time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment to be honored
