Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience including at least 1 year in an ER setting.
Details
- Large, 101-bed Emergency Department within a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- Day shift schedule, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Typical patient ratio of 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Support staff includes techs in the cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, and triage, as well as unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- EMR: Cerner (experience required)
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling is not available
- No floating outside of the ED; must be open to floating within all sections of the ED
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) preferred
- Previous HCA experience preferred
- Strong teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Ability to work flexibly across all areas of the ED
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care using AIDET principles, maintaining respectful behavior, and keeping patient boards and communication updated throughout each visit
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- All certifications must be from AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
- Navy scrubs required
