Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience including at least 1 year in an ER setting.

Details

• Large, 101-bed Emergency Department within a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
• Day shift schedule, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Typical patient ratio of 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Support staff includes techs in the cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, and triage, as well as unit clerks on days and nights
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• EMR: Cerner (experience required)
• Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling is not available
• No floating outside of the ED; must be open to floating within all sections of the ED
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) preferred
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• Strong teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Ability to work flexibly across all areas of the ED
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care using AIDET principles, maintaining respectful behavior, and keeping patient boards and communication updated throughout each visit
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• All certifications must be from AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
• Navy scrubs required
