Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 1 year of ER experience and multiple certifications including TNCC and ACLS.
Details
- 101-bed Emergency Department within a large, 815-bed Magnet®-designated hospital
- Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Techs available and working in the cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, and triage; unit clerks present on days and nights
- Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Documentation system: Cerner
- Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet the needs of the department and block scheduling is not available
- No floating outside of the ED; however, must be open to floating to all sections within the ED
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent ER experience
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) preferred
- Previous HCA experience preferred
- Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)

- Nurses are expected to follow AIDET communication standards, maintain respectful patient interactions, keep patient boards updated, and keep patients informed throughout their visit
- Navy scrubs required
- The department is known for strong teamwork and a welcoming culture, serving a highly multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the surrounding area
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- All certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
