Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in Boston, MA, requiring 4+ years of acute care experience and the ability to float across multiple units.
Details
- Float pool position covering 5 Med/Surg Telemetry units: M7 (ortho, urology, neurology, GYN – 30 beds), 6W (cardiology/telemetry – 32 beds), 7E (surgery – 30 beds), and CMS6 (cardio-thoracic – 16 beds)
- Average patient ratio of 5:1
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Most Fridays are expected to be worked; no specific schedule requests will be accommodated
- RTO limited to no more than 3 days for the duration of the assignment
- Telemetry monitoring required; must be able to independently read telemetry strips
- Management of titratable IV drips including nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and diltiazem infusions required
- Meditech used for IV documentation; Epic experience strongly preferred
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), all must be active
- Minimum 4 years of recent acute care experience required
- Step-down or IMCU experience required for night shift
- Must have completed at least 1 successful travel contract
- Must be adaptable to floating across 5 different Med/Surg/Tele units
- Must be able to independently read telemetry strips and pass an on-site telemetry exam on Day 1 with a score of 84% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
- Experience with titratable IV drips (nitroglycerin, amiodarone, diltiazem) required
- Meditech IV documentation experience required
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years of float pool experience preferred
- Permanent residence must be 30 or more miles from the facility
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be from a manager-level or above (title must reflect 'Manager,' not 'Supervisor'), with one reference dated within the last 12 months and the other within the last 3 years; references may not be provided by another traveler
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidate must pass the Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Test (Test A or B) prior to placement; the test may only be taken twice
- Preference given to candidates who can provide at least one reference from a recent travel or temporary assignment
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position; at least one completed travel contract is required
