Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in Boston, MA, requiring 4+ years of acute care experience and the ability to float across 5 specialized units.
Details
- Float pool position covering 5 Med/Surg Telemetry units: M7 (orthopedics, urology, neurology, GYN), 6W (cardiology/telemetry), 7E (surgery), and CMS6 (cardio-thoracic)
- Unit bed counts range from 16 to 32 beds depending on the assigned unit
- Average patient ratio of 5:1
- Telemetry monitoring is a core component of patient care across units
- IMCU/step-down level care required for night shift, including management of titratable IV drips (e.g., nitroglycerin, amiodarone, diltiazem)
- Meditech IV experience is required
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
- 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with day/night rotation
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Every other holiday (EOH) required
- Most Fridays will be required; no specific schedule requests will be accommodated
- No more than 3 days of RTO may be requested for the duration of the assignment
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 4 years of recent acute care experience required
- Step-down or IMCU experience required, particularly for night shift
- At least 1 recent, successfully completed travel contract required
- Must be able to independently read telemetry strips and pass an on-site telemetry exam on Day 1 with a score of 84% or better (2 attempts allowed)
- Must be capable of adapting quickly to different units within the float pool
- Preferred: 5+ years of float pool experience
- Preferred: Epic EMR experience
- Must reside 30 or more miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two professional references required: at least one must be from a manager-level or above (title must be listed as 'Manager'), must include a performance evaluation; one reference must be within the last 12 months, the other within 3 years; references from fellow travelers are not accepted
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass the Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Test (A or B) prior to placement; the test may only be taken twice
- Care responsibilities span orthopedic, urologic, neurologic, gynecologic, cardiac, surgical, and cardio-thoracic patient populations depending on unit assignment
- Night shift candidates should be comfortable independently managing titratable drips including nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and diltiazem infusions
- Holiday coverage is required on an every-other-holiday rotation
- Extended RTO will not be approved for this assignment
- First-time travelers will not be considered; prior travel experience is required
