Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift travel contract in Nashville, TN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active TN or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 12 Tower unit within an acute care hospital setting in Nashville, TN
- 36-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
- Patient population includes post-op cases such as amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs, as well as patients requiring dialysis, PCA pumps, stroke, and seizure care — the only drip used is Heparin
- Equipment includes PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lifts, Broda Chairs, and Alaris IV Pumps
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (19:00–07:00)
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week block
- Travelers float over core staff
- Unit is supported by a secretary daily and PRN techs
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN license or compact RN license with TN privileges required
- Current BLS (AHA or ARC accepted) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required — certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Proficiency in patient assessment and care for wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, stroke, and seizure patients
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include bedside shift reports, safety checks every 1–2 hours, HAI prevention (CVC and Foley monitoring), fall prevention, and 100% medication scanning including controlled substances
- Travelers are held to the same standards of accountability and recognition as core staff
- Supportive charge nurses and experienced leadership provide a smooth onboarding experience to the unit
- Scrub colors: Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, or Ceil Blue
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- No work history gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
