Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring 4+ years of acute care experience, telemetry competency, and an active MA RN license.
Details
- Float pool assignment covering multiple units: M7 (Med/Surg — ortho, urology, neurology, GYN, 30 beds), 6W (cardiology/telemetry, 32 beds), 7E (surgery, 30 beds), and CMS6 (cardio-thoracic, 16 beds)
- Average patient ratio of 5:1
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Most Fridays will be required
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
- Meditech experience required
- Telemetry monitoring required, including independent strip reading
- Must be comfortable managing titratable IV drips including nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and diltiazem infusions
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 4 years of recent acute care experience required
- Step-down or IMCU experience required for night shift
- Experience independently reading telemetry strips required
- Must have completed at least 1 successful travel contract
- Must pass an on-site telemetry exam on Day 1 with a score of 84% or better (2 attempts allowed)
- Candidate's permanent residence must be 30 or more miles from the facility
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be manager-level or above and include a performance evaluation; one must be within the last 12 months and the other within 3 years; references from other travelers are not accepted
Additional Information
- Candidate must be able to adapt quickly to different units as part of the float pool
- 5+ years of float pool experience is preferred
- Candidates must pass the Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Test (Test A or B) — the test may only be taken twice
- No more than 3 days of RTO may be requested for the duration of the contract
- No extended RTO and no specific schedule requests will be accommodated
- First-time travelers will not be considered — prior travel experience is required
