Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (NICU/PEDS) with at least 2 years of pediatric-only experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU teaching hospital.
Details
- Children's hospital setting with 247 licensed beds, designated as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and teaching hospital
- Respiratory care provided to all pediatric patients throughout the facility, covering neonatal through pediatric age ranges
- Departments include ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and general medical floors
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (shift times may vary: 6:45 PM–7:15 PM or 6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
- 36 hours per week standard
- Every other weekend rotation required
- 75% of holidays required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- No floating to other facilities due to the specialty nature of this unit
- EMR: Epic (testing out of Epic prior to start is encouraged for faster onboarding)
- Ventilator equipment: IPPV and NIPPV; additional department-specific equipment to be discussed during interview
Requirements
- Active RRT or CRT credential required
- Active NC licensure required (license required if applicable)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience on a resource/float team with combined pediatric-only unit experience within the past 5 years — experience must be in pediatric-only settings, not mixed age populations
- Experience with IPPV/NIPPV ventilators required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate's permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Orientation consists of 3 days total for ED and general floor onboarding, including 2 days of computer training, equipment review, and facility walkthrough; candidates with multi-ICU experience will receive one day per unit they will be working
- Manager will conduct a final clinical interview
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
- Royal blue scrubs required
