Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a 2nd Floor ICU position at a Level III Trauma Center in Grafton, WI, requiring 3 years of ICU experience and night shift availability.

Details

  • 17-bed ICU within a 136-bed Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center located in Grafton, WI
  • Patient population includes general ICU cases (COVID, sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GIB, stroke w/ TPA, ARF), surgical cases (general, open abdominal, orthopedic, ENT, OB/GYN), and cardiac/vascular cases (fem-pop bypass, CABG, valves, post-cath, AAA, amputations); no complex neuro
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 (acuity based); CNA support at 1:8 days and 1:17 nights
  • Key procedures and equipment include vent/trach management, invasive line management (A-line, CVP, Swan), chest tubes, drains/tube management, post-surgical and post-cath recovery, CVVH, balloon pumps, and CRRT (NxStage)
  • Charting via Epic (preferred); Alaris and Pyxis also in use
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating required to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED boarding (1:4), and observation units (1:4); travelers float first
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in vent/trach management, invasive line management (A-line, CVP, Swan), chest tubes, CVVH, balloon pumps, and CRRT (NxStage) required; fresh heart and NxStage CRRT experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • COVID vaccine required
  • 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year required for consideration
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Unit support includes a 24/7 intensivist, 24/7 RT, ICU-specific pharmacist (day shift only), charge nurse with occasional patient assignment, unit secretary (0700–1930), phlebotomy team, and an educator
  • Bedside telemetry monitoring available on the unit
  • Orientation consists of 1 day: morning meeting with educator for badge access, CBLs, and system logins, followed by a meet-and-greet with the nurse manager and remainder of shift with a preceptor
  • Every other holiday coverage required
  • Scrub color is open (any color); camouflage, denim, and hoodies are not permitted
  • Free parking available on site
  • More than 2 sick calls may result in a contract evaluation and possible termination
  • RTO is subject to manager approval
  • First-time travelers with 3 years of ICU experience are eligible to apply
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
