Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring structural heart scrub experience and proficiency in a wide range of interventional cardiac procedures.

Details

  • Cath Lab setting within a hospital environment
  • Manages up to 3 rooms
  • Performs a broad range of procedures including complex PCIs, balloon angioplasty, stents, thrombectomy, Impella insertion, left and right heart catheterization, and Rotablader
  • Required to scrub for all procedures, not limited to diagnostic cases
  • Structural heart and TAVR procedures are a core part of the workload
  • 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:00–17:30
  • On-call required one day per week and one weekend per four-week schedule; call frequency may increase when colleagues call out
  • Floating to EP is possible but rare; the unit's patient holding area is considered part of the Cath Lab
  • Uses Epic and MAC Lab systems
  • Epic experience required; MAC Lab familiarity is a plus

Requirements

  • Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • Structural heart scrub experience is required — candidates without this will not be considered
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing, monitoring, PA lines, telemetry, and TAVR
  • Must be able to pass an EKG competency test prior to start
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years are required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay rate
  • Preferred skills include circulating, IV starts, conscious sedation, rhythm interpretation, and experience with Watchman procedures, septal closure, ablations, coil embolization, and filter placement
  • ARRT Advanced Certification is preferred
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • An interview with the manager is required prior to any offer being extended
  • Orientation is conducted weekly; required pre-start modules for acute care roles total approximately 8–10 hours and must also be completed annually
  • Previous permanent, PRN, or per-diem employees of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; RTO of 7 days or fewer may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday, and any additional RTO requires facility approval
  • Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are permitted, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
  • Longer contracts beyond 13 weeks may be available for interested candidates
