Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry (Surgical 3A) night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient telemetry experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient surgical/telemetry unit (Surgical 3A) at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
- Cardiac and med-surg patient population, including post-trauma, surgical, and medically complex cases
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Patient ratios vary: days 1:5–1:6, nights 1:6–1:8 (estimates)
- 32-bed unit
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and lift equipment
- EMR: Epic
- Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
- No on-call requirements
- Floating on a rotational basis
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license eligible for Missouri at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification from AHA
- NIHSS certification required prior to start (may be considered without, but must be obtained before starting)
- 4 trauma credits required; must be completed within the first two weeks if not already held
- ACLS from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- Inpatient experience only; no gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Physical requirements include standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Trauma and inpatient surgical experience is preferred
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 – April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not acceptable
- RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; no RTO approved in the first week
- Only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate and are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this location before a separation period or relocation is required
