Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center in Yakima, WA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience and a full certification package including TNCC and PALS or ENPC.
Details
- Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department at a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital seeing 200–250 ED patients per day — the busiest ED in the state
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma
- ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track ('green zone')
- Patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity
- 12-hour mid shifts with a range of possible start times including 10a–10p, 11a–11p, 12p–12a, 1p–1a, and 2p–2a
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends; flexibility is expected
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand (pending license with proof of application may be accepted)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
- Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being permitted to triage independently
- Experience with barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
- Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, and assist with trauma and code cases
- Experience with splinting, BiPAP/ventilator management, and a solid understanding of ESI levels
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a broad and high-acuity patient population, including stabilization and transfer coordination for neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred
- Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
- Clinical interview via SimpliFi is required as part of the process
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable; scrubs with logos are not permitted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
