Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and the ability to administer chemotherapy.
Details
- Hospital pediatrics unit serving medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients ages 0–17
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Float requirement to PICU and NICU
- No on-call responsibilities
- Self-scheduling unit
- EMR: Epic (experience required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
- 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts may be available
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Chemotherapy administration experience required
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
- IV start and lab draw experience preferred
- Chemotherapy certification preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they meet the 2-year experience requirement
- Orientation includes a full week of hospital orientation with required daily attendance, plus 24 hours of unit orientation; no time off is permitted during the first week
- Approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed annually
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO is not permitted after booking and cannot be arranged onsite; excessive call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be available, provided it does not fall on a holiday
- Previous permanent, PRN, or employee pool staff of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler, and facility rehire approval is required
- Scrubs are not provided; fun/themed pediatric tops with navy pants are expected
- Travel pairs are permitted provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
