Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring a MO or compact license, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and availability for night shifts with regular floating responsibilities.
Details
- Night shift position: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Requires 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period, on a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities, including the Emergency Department for inpatient holding
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling is not available
- Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, post-surgical, renal, and respiratory cases
- Clinical skills required include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), use of Rapid Response Teams, post-cardiac and cath lab recovery, pre/post cardiac surgery, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drip titration, PCA, procedural sedation, CVA management, tracheostomy management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri (MO) or a compact state license; both Kansas and Missouri licenses must be in hand prior to consideration due to floating requirements
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required
- Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Experience in MS/Tele, cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown settings required
- Prior charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred
- SSN required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
Additional Information
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the assignment
- Charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unit
- Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
- Orientation modules are required and average 10–15 hours, to be completed prior to the start date
- Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
