Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring charge nurse capability and Cerner experience on night shifts.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Weekend availability required
• Charge nurse duties required approximately 1–2 shifts per week; in most cases (~90% of the time), the charge nurse is not counted in staffing ratios unless there are call-ins or unexpected staffing needs
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• Cerner charting required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active Indiana (IN) or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; AHA and RQI formats accepted
• Minimum 2 years of PCU or relevant RN experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• RN degree from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation
• 2 supervisor professional references required
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serve as charge nurse approximately 1–2 shifts per week, providing unit leadership and oversight
• Must be willing and able to take charge nurse assignments
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break in employment before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
