Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an academic medical center in Maryland, requiring strong ICU experience and the ability to care for patients across the full lifespan in a high-acuity, 24/7 peri-anesthesia environment.

Details

• Work in a 28-bay Main PACU unit providing 24/7 peri-anesthesia care to patients across the full lifespan and spectrum of acuity, 365 days a year
• Patient population spans all age groups: neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Cares for both inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgeries across more than 20 surgical and procedural specialties
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Rotating schedule of day and night 12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00 and 19:30–07:30)
• 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage required as shifts fall per schedule
• On-call required: 1–2 twelve-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule (7:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30)
• Floating required within the specialty, to other units, and to sister facilities within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active RN license in Maryland (MD state license) or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Strong ICU experience required
• PACU or peri-anesthesia nursing experience expected given the high-acuity environment
• Competency in vasopressor titration, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation

• This is a 12-week travel contract
• Provide vigilant pre- and post-operative care across a broad array of surgical and medical specialties
• The unit's versatility offers a wide variety of clinical experiences across the lifespan and acuity spectrum
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
