Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at an acute care facility in Georgia, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Works in a high-volume, full-service OR with 19 surgical suites handling approximately 55–60 cases per day (roughly 1,000/month)
- Case mix includes general surgery, robotics, ortho/neuro trauma, and cardiothoracic — excludes major pediatric cases, transplants, and C-sections in the main OR
- Facility functions at a Level 2 trauma capacity with ortho/neuro trauma cases
- Charting via MEDITECH
- Day shift, 10-hour shifts from 7a–5p
- Weekend coverage required approximately once per quarter
- On-call by rotation — general call averages every 7th weekend with no weekday call; specialty call (ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic) available if cases fall within the traveler's competency
- 30-minute call response time required
- No floating required
- OR technicians (CST-certified) are on staff
Requirements
- Active RN license — GA or compact license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2–3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Broad OR competency across most surgical services required
- Scrubbing skills preferred but not required
- MEDITECH experience preferred
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on the candidate's driver's license)
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

- Provides perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties in a high-volume OR setting
- Specialty on-call (ortho/neuro or cardio/thoracic teams) is only assigned to travelers whose competency includes those case types
- Skills checklist must accurately reflect experience — proficiency ratings must be genuine
- Facility is looking for travelers who are reliable, punctual, and adaptable to serve varied service line needs
- One-week unit-specific orientation provided
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff — flexibility required
- RTO requests are honored only if included at the time of assignment confirmation
