Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience and at least one prior travel contract for a 17-week night shift weekend position in an acute care hospital setting.

Details

  • Acute care hospital respiratory therapy department serving adult, pediatric, and NICU patient populations
  • Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and various cancers
  • Therapists perform approximately 550 minutes of treatments per shift, averaging 13–15 patients per shift
  • ICU therapists manage up to 4 airways per shift (vents, heated aerosol trach off-vent, etc.)
  • Performs all RT duties including nebulizers, airway management, Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, A-line placement, bronchoscopies, and intubation
  • Servo vents (U and I models) used throughout the unit
  • MEDITECH EMR — experience preferred
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, Friday–Sunday, 7p–7a
  • Holidays rotated with permanent staff; every other holiday can be expected
  • No on-call or floating required
  • Charge RT and Clinical Coordinator roles present on unit
  • In-house hospitalist or intensivist (MD or NP) available 24/7; pharmacy available 24/7

Requirements

  • RRT credential required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP required if assigned to NICU
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care respiratory therapy experience
  • Experience in a facility with 300+ beds required
  • Completion of at least one prior travel contract required
  • Must be comfortable with and experienced in intubating patients independently, as RT serves as first-line for intubation
  • Must be experienced handling high-volume, high-acuity workloads
  • Must be able to confidently manage adult ICU ventilators, interpret ABGs, alert on critical values, and make vent management suggestions
  • GA state RT license required if applicable
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Orientation consists of one week of hospital and charting orientation followed by a progressive treatment load (300 → 400 → 500 minutes); ICU assignments include an additional week of orientation
  • Scrub color: ceil blue only; ceil blue jacket permitted
  • Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position — at least one prior travel contract is required
